Advanced Driving / Motorcycling and Observer / Instructor Training
Unique Flexible Training Resources at Modest Cost for IAM Observers, RoADAR Tutors, DSA/DIA Instructors, Drivers and Motorcyclists each with almost a CD’s 700 Mbyte capacity with useful Text, Photographs and Movie Clips
Updated 2007 Versions
including 2006 Seat Belt Regulations, items marked as not
suitable for "L" and ADI Tests and some items from the new 2007 Highway Code
A wealth of useful information and hints for all wishing to give guidance or improve their own driving / riding skills, and an ideal preparation and refresher for the IAM, RoSPA, DIAmond and RAC Advanced Driving Tests. In addition to the majority, which covers both driving and motorcycling matters, this pair of CDs has 45 & 67 slides respectively dedicated to motorcycling and both have 19 slides on goods and passenger carrying vehicles.
A unique composition by a former Police Advanced Driver and Advanced Motorcyclist, with over 17 years’ experience of giving Advanced Driving tuition as a volunteer Observer with a local Group of the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) and over 12 years as a professional Advanced Driving Instructor.
Most text is in the “reveal” style – line by line on mouse/keyboard click enabling the popular “teaching by questioning” style, which encourages audience participation using the experience of students. For home user and presenters unsure of their subject most of the questions are followed by suggested answers!
In PowerPoint format, with large text, these CDs can be used both for Group presentations when training drivers, riders, Observers and Instructors and for home study. They are in an amendable format for those with PowerPoint (which is part of Microsoft Office) but they include a “read only” version for those without. Although in a logical sequence, they are fully alphabetically cross-indexed, so presenters can select their own sequence of subjects without amendment, and they also serve as a handy reference guide, with many FAQS (Frequently Asked Questions) from driving, observing and instructing students.
Currently with over 820 and over 1,015 slides respectively, these CDs contain numerous illustrations and photographs from “The Highway Code”, “Know Your Traffic Signs”, the IAM’s “How to be an Advanced Driver / Motorcyclist”, “Roadcraft” the Police drivers’ handbook, IAM’s “Observer Training” manuals and over 40 video clips in .mpg format, some from the “Roadcraft Video”. All are with the consent of the Copyright holders and include the full 10 minute ‘Blue Light Video’- “Sharing the Roads with Emergency Vehicles”, with the kind consent of the Association of Industrial Road Safety Officers (AIRSO), which usually retails itself at £10!
When used for presentations these CDs have more than enough for a two day course but can, of course, be broken down into smaller sessions and used for home study. They cannot cover all of the contents of the books on which they are based but do include the following and include many personal interpretations of the author.
“Advanced Driving / Motorcycling” subjects include: Reading and Driving guidance & practice - further reading; Road sign observation and knowledge; Concentration, Observation, Anticipation, Planning; Speed Limits & Maximum Safe Driving speeds; Types of Hazard - Fixed, Movable, Conditions; Observation - how and what do we see? Comments received: "...an
excellent presentation of slides and video clips bringing together
information from a number of sources... However, the content, interpretation
and presentation are clearly from someone with a sound knowledge in the
subject - well done David! To those who have not yet bought a copy, I
would highly recommend doing so that's if David did not make this a limited
edition - if so, it may be worth considerably more than the £10 I paid!).” - Mark Whalley,
Observer, Swansea Bay Group, IAM. I can't work out how you have
produced such a professional piece of software for the price! - Dave Folland, Chairman, Newsletter Editor & Observer,
